History

Dan Ryan Truck Rental pioneered truck and van rental as we know it in Ireland.

Dan Ryan was initially formed in 1955 in Limerick, renting cars out to American tourists in that area. The fleet and company reputation rapidly grew from this and new offices opened in Parkgate Street, Dublin and also in New York.

In 1977, Dan Ryan Truck Rental was born, developing Ireland’s first provider of vans and trucks on a rental and contract leasing basis. This new sector of the business was based out of Inchicore, Dublin.

During that time we developed the Dan Ryan Contract Lease Program. A smart means for transport operators to acquire vans and trucks, refrigerated or ambient, in their own company livery. Companies contracted the vehicles, promoting their own business, while the fleet was owned, managed and maintained Dan Ryan Truck Rental.

In 1980, the car rental side of the business was sold, and full concentration went into fast developing and hugely successful Truck & Van Rental and Leasing business. Together with our options for short and long term rental, the leasing business became, and continues to be, Ireland’s most complete contact leasing program in the commercial vehicle industry.

In 2021, Dan Ryan Truck Rental diversified again with their acquisition of Automotive Services in Park West. The latter being a commercial vehicle testing centre for light and heavy goods vehicles, tachograph centre and type approval facility. In the same year, Automotive Services was appointed as South Dublin’s sole franchise dealer of the FUSO range of light and mid-range trucks.

Dan Ryan Truck Rental now operates out of Park West, a modern office and truck servicing centre, with the maintenance facilities to support our large customer base and the 850 strong vehicle fleet.

Dan Ryan Truck Rental continues to be No.1 for Rental and Contract Leasing in Ireland.
